Event description

Description

One in four people will suffer from, or be touched by, a mental health issue at some point in their lives. The Depressed Cake Shop™ is a unique (and delicious) platform designed to raise awareness of these challenges. With help from co-conspirators, they facilitate pop-ups worldwide that sell highly customized baked goods as a way to get people talking about mental illness. They provide a safe place for conversation and a unique toolkit that will enable interested bakers and organizers to raise funds for mental health charities through locally organized pop-ups.

As part of SMHAF 2017 The Depressed Cake Shop will be hosting a screening of CARELESS, a creative documentary that looks at mental health services for young adults, following dancer Evie’s story who completed suicide in 2014. Film created by Catriona Taylor.

There will also be an exhibition of artwork and photography by Evie Douglas."

Depressed Cake Shop Cafe and Art Exhibition open 2.30pm (open to public)
