Intellectual Property 101

LawWorks (the Solicitors Pro Bono Group) is a charity which encourages, supports and celebrates pro bono by solicitors, law schools and law students across England and Wales. We are supported by the Law Society and by over 100 members, including international and City firms, regional, medium and small firms, and in-house solicitors and their organisations.The focus of our work is on supporting and developing local independently run pro bono advice clinics and also connecting smaller charities and not-for-profit organisations in need of free legal advice with pro bono volunteers from amongst our membership.We support pro bono clinic volunteers and our members with training, networking opportunities and a range of online resources and materials. Our Annual Pro Bono and Student Awards recognise and celebrate the pro bono work of our members, partner organisations, law schools and law students.

Taking place during <a href="https://www.smallcharityweek.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Small Charity Week 2023</a>, this presentation will examine how small charities can protect their intellectual property and enact any trademarks they may have.The session will be delivered by volunteers from the law firm Baker Mackenzie and hosted by LawWorks. LawWorks is a charity working in England and Wales to connect volunteer lawyers with people and organisations in need of legal advice. The <a href="https://www.lawworks.org.uk/legal-advice-not-profits" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LawWorks Not-for-Profits Programme</a> brokers legal advice to small not-for-profit organisations on a wide range of legal issues, to support the continuation and expansion of their services to people in need.
