About this event

This is a two-part series of hybrid panels held in London and Frankfurt, alongside the launch of two reports on impact valuation as a tool for managing the interconnectivity impacts. The event will feature engaging discussions and presentations from leading academics and practitioners focusing on the following topics.

Part 1: Rolling the DICE against Long-term Impact: Funds, Intermediaries, Beneficiaries

Frankfurt community: Value Balancing Alliance, Bockenheimer Landstrasse 22, Frankfurt, and hybrid - hosted by Value Balancing Alliance and Planet Tracker [under Chatham house rules]

Special Guests Carbon Tracker/Planet Tracker, Effectual Capital, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), consultants and pension funds

Moderated by Dennis West, Researcher at University of Oxford

  • The clash between economic models and scientific evidence: What does this mean for pension fund trustees and members?
  • The implications for pension fund beneficiaries: How do integrated assessment models and scenario analyses influence asset valuations?
  • Strategies for pension fund sustainability: How can trustees, civil society organizations, policymakers, and central banks navigate challenges and safeguard pension fund capital?

This event bases on Planet Trackers' recent Loading the DICE Against Pensions Carbon Tracker Initiative report [https://carbontracker.org/reports/loading-the-dice-against-pensions/] with UCL Professor Steve Keen and/or Exeter Uni Professor Tim Lenton, author of ‘The Emperor’s New Climate Scenarios – a warning for financial services’ [https://actuaries.org.uk/media/qeydewmk/the-emperor-s-new-climate-scenarios.pdf].

Part 2: Interconnectivity of Net Zero for Universal Owners: ESG Supply Chain Risks and Impacts

London Climate Week community: [tbd] and hybrid [under Chatham house rules]

Moderated by Chris Turpin, Board Member and Strategic Advisor in sustainable finance and Dennis West, Researcher at University of Oxford

  • Interconnectivity of Net Zero: What can Universal Owners do about Fossil Fuels?
  • Interconnectivity of ESG supply chain risks: As turbulence and uncertainty unravel global supply chains, how are responsibilities re-assigned and become material? How are new investment risks connected across social and environmental issues?
  • Interconnectivity of impacts: As none of those ESG risks stand in isolation, how can companies and investors act in a precautionary way and with positive outcomes?
