About this event
Here at The Eric Liddell Community we believe in creating an Intergenerational Community where everyone is welcomed, all opinions are valued and we can learn from each other at every stage of our lives.
Our Intergenerational Creative Writing project aims to create a space of conversation and connection where people aged 8 to 108 will be able to discuss important topics and, through the means of creative writing, create a lasting document of their ideas and connections.
Each workshop will be run by an experienced writer and focus on a different form of writing.
Wednesday 30th April: Storytelling with Niall Moorjani
Wednesday 7th May: Poetry with Dr. Katie Ailes from Loud Poets
NO WORKSHOP ON WEDNESDAY 14TH MAY
Wednesday 21st May: Writing for and with community with Naomi Head

At the end of the project all work will be gathered and printed. Each participant will receive a copy of Writing Across Generations and a Launch Event will be held to celebrate and share the work - date to be decided with the participants.

The event will be held at The Eric Liddell Community, an accessible space with step-free access and accessible toilets.
The event is part of The Eric Liddell Community (Registered Charity SC003147) and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Frequently asked questions
Intergenerational Projects are activities created with the aim to connect people of different generations so that we can all learn from and with each other. Connecting is at the core of the project, and we aim to make sure that everyone feels heard and valued, regardless of their age.
Yes, everything about this project is entirely free because we are very generously being funded by The National Lottery Improving Lives fund. Everyone involved in the project is being paid a living wage and a fair fee.
We expect participants to attend all the sessions. We are aiming to write together and to create lasting, intergenerational connections, so attending all sessions will give participants the chance to get to know each other.
Not at all! The event is open to people with all levels of experience. All you need is an interest in writing and a desire to connect.
You most definitely can! However, due to safeguarding policies, a legal guardian will have to be present on the premise. They can either take part in the project with you or be waiting outside the room, although we highly recommend the first option!
Not at all, The Eric Liddell Community specializes in activities for older populations so you won't be alone at all. The workshop will also be held in a ground floor, step-free room, and accessible toilets are located nearby. Sadly, this is not a Dementia-Friendly activity.
Don't be! Age does not matter in this workshop, all that matters is that you want to come along, meet people, and try your hand at writing!
Fill in this form online https://forms.office.com/e/3Q7Cpkvf2H . If you would prefer the form in a hard copy you can pick up copies from The Eric Liddell Community front desk and return them there.

The Eric Liddell Community is an Edinburgh care charity and community hub founded in 1980, in memory of the inspirational Olympic gold medallist, Eric Liddell whose win in the 1924 Paris Olympics was the subject of the film ‘Chariots of Fire’.
The charity is housed in a beautiful converted former church giving home to our caring services and community hub.
