About this event

  • 5 hours 30 minutes

This workshop is perfect for those who have attended the beginners hand embroidery workshop or who have knowledge of basic hand embroidery stitches and would love to develop their skills and learn new stitches.

During the morning we'll learn and develop knowledge of how to work new, slightly more difficult stitches, how to to alter the effect of them and explore how and where to use them in you work. Different threads and fabrics will be introduced.

As the day progresses, you'll take these new skills and be supported and guided to create a sampler to display your newly learnt stitches or to create a piece of art that is unique to you - this could be a bag front, a greetings card or other textile art of your choice.

By the end of the workshop you will have learnt new line, knot and filling stitches, have created a stitch reference and also have completed (or be well on the way to completing) a piece of textile art or sampler.

Please note - this workshop is suitable for beginners but they must be 18+

If you have any access, mobility or other health issues which you think could impact your experience of the workshop, do to let us know in advance and we will aim to make reasonable adjustments where possible, to ensure you have a positive experience.

We request resonable notice of at least 2 working days to be able to action any adjustments.

Any information disclosed to Swarthmore will be relayed to the workshop facilitator.
