About this event

This course involves making a "quillow" with a completed size of approximately 42” x 54” / 100cm x 130cm. A quillow is a quilt which can be folded into a pouch attached to the back, so that it can then be used as a cushion.

Although the quilt pictured on this event listing uses half square triangles arranged in a "carnival glass" design, you will have a choice between using one of several diffrent designs using half square triangles, or can alternatively make your quilt top using a "rail fence" design.

All materials will be provided.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included.

The second part of this course will take place on Saturday 13th December from 10am - 4pm. You MUST be able to attend both dates to complete your quillow, so please keep that in mind before booking onto the course. You do not need to book onto the second date via Eventbrite; this will be done on your behalf.

You will need to call in to the shop prior to the course to choose your fabrics and agree which design you want to use. If you are not able to do that, please contact us on 0114 2455996 to discuss.

You have the option of cutting out prior to the class, if you choose. Alternatively, you can cut out on the day of the class, but you won't manage to get as much sewing done, so will have more to do between the two class dates.

This is an all-day course, so you will need to either bring a packed lunch, or buy something from a local shop on the day.

Skill level: Intermediate

As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing machine with a reasonable level of skill. On that basis, you should have either completed an “introduction to sewing machines” session, or have used a sewing machine yourself to undertake simple tasks like joining two pieces of fabric. If you have not done this, this course will not be suitable.

Although basic techniques will be used and full tuition will be given, there is quite a lot to get through in this class, and seams will need to be sewn accurately for your quillow to work. It is our aim to ensure that everyone goes home with a finished item, so if you feel that you may struggle to manage a full day’s fairly intensive sewing, you may prefer to register on one of our beginner's patchwork courses first.

Terms and conditions:

Our workshops are open to individuals aged fourteen and upwards. However, a responsible adult must remain on site at all time with minors.

Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

Any further details, along with anything you need to bring with you, will be sent out via email in advance of the scheduled date.

All workshops will begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please ensure that you arrive early enough to get yourself settled in and have a coffee and cake before the class is due to start.

Cancellations:

For cancellations with more than two weeks’ notice, a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations with less two weeks’ notice are non-refundable, unless we are able to fill your place.

All workshops will clearly be marked as being suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced. When booking a workshop, you are responsible for assessing your own abilities. Happy Hare cannot be held responsible if you book the wrong level of workshop or do not read the description of the workshop correctly. A refund will not be given for booking a workshop which you later feel is not at the right level for you, unless the cancellation is made more than two weeks’ prior to the scheduled date.

Should we need to cancel a class due to circumstance beyond our control or limited numbers, a full refund will be given. Alternatively, you will be given the option to book onto another workshop.

Please note: when making a booking it is assumed that our terms and conditions have been read and approved.
