Steph Thannhauser has over 35 years of sewing experience. In fact, she can’t remember a day when she wasn’t making or sewing something. She started young and has never stopped. Steph did a degree in Printed Textiles at Loughborough College of Art and Design then subsequently worked in-house and in freelance, creating art for many different products and clients. Her favourite thing to do is design patterns which can then be used in sewing projects.Teaching people to sew and sharing her love of creativity was a natural progression for Steph. This is an Intermediate sewing course for those who want further their skills  and learn more about their sewing machine.

“My soul is fed with needle and thread”This is an Intermediate day of sewing with your sewing machine.Who is this day for?This day is for for those who are confident using their sewing machine but would like to explore sewing by using other fabrics or try more complicated sewing. You might also want to be part of social sewing and enjoy the fun of creating with a group of like minded people. What will I make during the day?The 5 hour day day (half an hour is allowed for lunch and a bit of time either end of the day for set up and clear up) is held in a room in Shenley Leisure Centre where we will have plenty of space to learn and make.The fabrics you will explore are sewing with felt, fusible interfacing and medium weight cotton. All printed fabrics are designed by Steph. You will make a felt storage trug and a dog pincushion. Steph will guide you through every step in this relaxed, informal and fun class. This workshop is about immersing yourself in the joy of creativity, ditching perfectionism and embracing the fun of creating. Steph has over 35 years experience of sewing and making things and is keen to share her love of making and creating so please join her for the chance to learn, make and grow.Steph provides everything you need for the day but please bring to class Sewing machine (please make sure it works. If you don't have a sewing machine it may be possible to rent one from me but please contact me first to confirm). Pencil and penNotebookHand sewing needles and some pinsThread, white will do for most items we'll make on the day but bring other colours if you have themSharp scissors, preferably a small pair and a large pair for cutting out fabricRefreshmentsThere is a bar/cafe on site to get tea and coffee, plus there is a cafe nearby for drinks and lunch too. There is a supermarket about 5 mins walk away if you wish to purchase your lunch or you might want to bring a packed lunch with you.TestimonialsI am attending the beginners learn to sew with a machine class that Steph runs.
