Introduction to Bitsy Workshop: Making Games with Small Tools

Tinderbox PlayAway Games Festival is a 2 week festival showcasing and celebrating the creativity, diversity, innovation, and imagination in games and interactive media. As well as a festival for people involved in games, we want to invite and involve people from other sectors and different artforms.

Workshop introducing the basics of game design and the history of small digital tools, and you will get started on a Bitsy game of your own!

In this workshop with game designer and co-founder of 3-Fold Games <a href="http://www.shimmerwitch.space/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Claire Morwood</a> (Biome Collective), you will be introduced to the basics of game design, the history of small digital tools, and get started making your own Bitsy game!-Suitable for anyone interested in creative technology, completely new to game design, and experienced game designers with an interest in learning new tools.For ages 16+This workshop is held via a Zoom Call and spaces are limited – please register to attend-Bitsy One-Day Game Jam!During the day, Tinderbox is also running a <a href="https://itch.io/jam/tinderbox-playaway-bitsy-jam" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bitsy One-Day Game Jam</a>! She works freelance as well as on her own personal projects, and has a number of creative interests including pixel art, claymation, programming and developing in Unity.She is particularly interested in games that promote exploration, personal and diverse narratives, and non-violence. She is also a big fan of small tools such as Bitsy, and their accessible nature. She has run events and game jams (such as <a href="http://fusejam.games/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fuse Jam</a>), which aim to provide open creative spaces for people to play and collaborate. During the event, you will be able to see the speakers as well as an online audience, and you can keep your video on or off as you choose.The event will be recorded and footage will be made available online through our website &amp; social media channels for people to watch back afterwards. -DonationsThe festival is being run on a donations-based model. We want it to be free &amp; accessible for anyone to attend, but we also want to pay our speakers and performers fairly.
