Introduction to bookbinding 5 week evening class
A 5 week evening class in all things bookbinding, the perfect class to introduce or re-engage with the craft of bookbinding.
This 5 week bookbinding class, held in a professional bookbindery and print studio will introduce the participants to bookbinding. You will learn how to make a new book structure every week. Whether you wish to learn a new skill, remind yourself of an old one or fancy joining our studio as a member to make your own work, this workshop is your best choice.
Week one: Bindery induction and 3 hole and 5 hole pamphlet binding,
Week two: Japanese stab binding
Week three; Hardback concertina binding
Week four : a multi section sewn binding
Week five: a hardback multi section sewn binding.
Youll be working in a professional environment, with professional equipment, allowing you to bespoke your books in a number of ways to suit your own needs.
By the end we aim to have you confident to continue making books either at home or as a member of our book bindery!
All materials and tools will be provided, as will tea, coffee, pastries and biscuits provided every night. We have a small kitchen area and tables for you to bring your own dinner in if you get hungry.
Our studio is not wheelchair accesible unfortunately.
