Overview
This CRFR session will provide a brief Introduction to the HOPE framework which focuses on how positive experiences can buffer the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The framework was developed at the school of Medicine at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. We will explore the research behind the concept of positive childhood experiences, the Four Building Blocks of HOPE, and the ways in which the framework has been incorporated into practice.
This event will take place online via Zoom, therefore attendees will be sent joining instructions the day before the event.
Speaker Biography
Dalia Avello-Vega has dedicated the last 12 years of her career to Infancy and Early Childhood, with a specific focus on trauma, adversity, and mental health policy. Her current project, My V.I.P. Scotland, uses longitudinal data to explore the role that significant adults and peers have had in the lives of Scottish children. In addition, she is a lecturer for the Infant Toddler Mental Program at Portland State University (Oregon, USA) and the principal investigator for a study exploring the arguments used to support or reject public policy aimed to reduce preschool suspension and expulsion (Michigan, USA).
