Get ready to learn all about identifying trees in the summer season! This hands-on workshop will teach you how to recognise different tree species. Our knowledgeable guide will lead you through the basics of tree identification, from bark patterns to twig shapes and leaf patterns. This is a great opportunity to enhance your nature knowledge and appreciation for the beauty of trees in all seasons. Don't miss out on this educational and fun experience!

Level: Beginner

Age: 14+ (under 16s booking onto this course must be accompanied by a paying adult )

Things to bring: Please dress for the weather and wear suitable, outdoor footwear. Hot drinks will be provided.


Frequently asked questions

Where can I park?

Parking is in the Carsington Water Visitor's Centre Carpark. You will need to provide your vehicle registration at the main reception on the day of your course in order to claim free parking, otherwise you may be liable for a penalty charge.

Can I get to the venue by public transport?

Nearest stop: Buses between Matlock and Ashbourne: Service 110 / 111. Buses between Derby and Bakewell: The Sixes 6.1 + local service from Wirksworth. Check times and route before travel.

How much walking is involved?

The guided walk as part of the session will last up to 2 hours. We will be walking on public footpaths and will go at a pace suitable for the whole group.

What facilities will there be?

The classroom session will take place indoors with access to toilets and a small kitchen area. During the guided walk there will be no indoor facilities. There is a small cafe on site at Carsington.

If I book but I am no longer able to attend, what is your refund policy?

If you are unable to attend the course after booking please email: trainingenquiries@derbyshirewt.co.uk at least 7 days prior to the event. Unfortunately, cancellations made less than 7 days in advance of the event will not be able to claim a refund.

Can I transfer my ticket to somebody else?

If you would like to transfer your ticket to somebody else after booking, please email trainingenquiries@derbyshirewt.co.uk

What is your cancellation policy?

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust reserves the right to cancel the course at any time. Attendees will be notified at least 24 hours in advance and will be entitled to a full refund.

Will the event be postponed if there is bad weather?

Unfortunately we cannot control the weather so most courses will go ahead as planned. However, in extreme cases we may cancel/postpone if the weather is likely to pose an unacceptable risk to staff and attendees. Wherever possible, we will contact attendees prior to the event start time to advise.
