About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours 30 minutes

In this one day workshop you will learn how to carve and print linocut in black and white, under the expert guidance of Nick Morley (aka Linocutboy)

Linocut is a printmaking technique which can easily be practised at home. Although the basic principles of linocut are easy to learn, there are several things the beginner needs to know in order to produce successful prints.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Which tools and materials to buy
  • How to plan your image and transfer it to the lino block
  • How to safely use a range of cutting tools to create a range of marks
  • How to ink the block correctly
  • How to print by hand (wooden spoon) and with a printing press
  • Registration

By the end of the workshop you will have a small edition of your print (A5 size) to take home and the knowledge and skills to continue making linocuts at home.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 5 people.
