The training will be delivered over two half days from 9.30am to 12.30pm on the 26th and 27th March. Please purchase one ticket only.

Project management is about getting things done within a specific timeframe through the use of tools, knowledge, processes, and competencies. This course will introduce you to:<ul><li>Defining what is a project</li><li>Identifying the stages in a project.</li><li>The basics of planning a project</li><li>Implementing and monitoring a project</li><li>Completing a project</li><li>Skills of a good project manager</li></ul>This training course includes handouts and numerous tools to consolidate your learning. You will also be encouraged to pick a simple project relevant to your own work which you can develop during the course.This training course includes handouts and numerous tools to consolidate your learning. You will also be encouraged to pick a simple project relevant to your own work which you can develop during the course.This course is for anyone who is new to project management and would like to learn techniques to manage a project. It is suitable for any one working the archives sector or the wider cultural and heritage sectors, from senior managers to frontline staff and volunteers.Course learning outcomes<ul><li>Understanding when something is a project or not</li><li>Awareness of core project planning techniques</li><li>Ability to measure and monitor success of your project</li><li>Being able to identify project phases and how they interrelate</li><li>Ability to develop a project implementation plan</li><li>Understanding how to draw a project to a successful conclusion</li><li>Understanding how your own skills currently match those of a good project manager</li></ul>The learning outcomes map to the following areas of ARA’s competency framework;<ul><li>Working with aims and objectives</li><li>Managing and using financial and other resources</li><li>Developing self and others</li></ul>About our trainer: Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan is a highly experienced senior professional archivist and qualified management consultant with extensive experience across all elements of the UK archive sector.
