Event description

Presenter: Dr Shirley Cooper

This one-day workshop for new researchers offers an intensive experience for experiential learning as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration. Working with other researchers, and following tutor guidance, you will develop a convincing case for a new research project that your group will present to other groups at the workshop. You will also need to develop a research timetable and project milestones to complete the research project and to assess the dissemination of the research outcomes. Each research project will be assessed through a peer review process.

During the workshop you will have the opportunity to assess how your own research project fits into the wider research environment, what contributions might be expected of you during your PhD and how you might make the most of opportunities open to you during your PhD.

The activities will also help you assess your further needs for professional development and enable you to develop your skills in all domains of the Researcher Development Framework including:

  • working as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers from different backgrounds

  • thinking creativity to develop new ideas

  • presenting new and convincing ideas in a succinct manner

  • project planning and time management

  • performing a critical peer review and responding to feedback

  • self-reflecting on your progress

This workshop offers opportunities to gain skills outlined in the RDF subdomains A1, A2, A3, C2, C3, D1 & D2.

Registration: You are recommended to use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
