Overview

Join illustrator and printmaker Abbie Mooney for an introduction to the traditional craft of bookbinding.

Join illustrator and printmaker Abbie Mooney for an introduction to the traditional craft of bookbinding. You will create your very own sketchbooks, journals, and creative book arts.

Over the course of five weeks, you will be guided through a broad spectrum of traditional techniques, starting with the basics of pamphlet stitch and working up to more complex hard-cover bindings. To push your skills and creativity, Abbie will also introduce you to decorative print and pattern techniques. These will be used to produce unique pages and covers, making your books completely your own.

Over the course of the five weeks, you can expect to learn:

  • Pamphlet stitch binding
  • Japanese stab binding
  • Accordion fold
  • Hard-cover binding
  • Creative ways to combine and apply these techniques to your individual projects

Your tutor, Abbie, is an experienced illustrator and printmaker who teaches printmaking and bookbinding in further education and as a freelance workshop facilitator. She is passionate about sharing innovative ways of using traditional techniques to keep heritage processes alive.

BEGINNERS / ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED

All tickets are non -refundable.

We are able to provide credit / transfer onto another course or workshop if there is two or more weeks’ notice.

Within a two-week period, under no circumstances can we transfer you onto another event. We have incurred material costs & committed numbers to the tutor.
