Intuitive Art Workshop

Intuitive Art Workshop

Sketchy Beats CafeEdinburgh, Mid Lothian
Sunday, Dec 14 from 7 pm to 9 pm GMT
Overview

This workshop will be focused on self-healing and self-exploration through art.

Intuitive art focuses on the process and connection with ourselves through art rather than creating a finite project.

What to expect:

- quick round of introductions where you can share your name/pronouns and something about your relationship with art

- introduction on how to use art for self- healing

- read through prompts focused on building self- compassion

- choose any material available at the café

- draw, paint, build what feels most natural to you

- you will be given guidance and ideas on how to use materials provided

Teas and coffee will be available and you will be encouraged to take breaks whenever you need. Bring snacks, fidget toys, comfort items and anything else that makes you feel comfortable. Towards the end, we will have space to share our thoughts and artworks for those who wish to do so. Your artwork is for you to take home.

About the tutor:

This workshop is led by Lu Castello (they/them) who advocates for art as a form of self- help rather than self- criticism.

This workshop is LGBTQIA2S+ friendly.

Accessibility info:

Lights will be minimal and mostly warm or soft colours.

There will be some instrumental chill music in the background at low volume.

The venue has a step at the entrance.

The toilet is available at ground floor through the kitchen through a narrow set of doors.

For any accessibility needs please msg the event organisers and we'll do what we can to support your request.

Donation:

There's an optional donation to go towards the running costs of the classes- this stops people booking up all the free tickets then not showing up! Eventbrite requires £1 to be entered in the box but we can refund that in cash when you attend the class - or you can put it towards a cup of tea from the kitchen :)
