Create a virtual map of your life in lockdown

Invisible Borders is an exciting new programme that has been designed to enable you to create a virtual tour of your lockdown experience to share with your friends and family.The programme will include a series of creative skill workshops in photography, audio recording and creative writing to help you explore and capture the sights and sounds of our newly bordered lives and will provide step by step guidance on how to build this into your own virtual tour. Reflecting on the connections between our current lockdown situation and the impact of borders and maps on the social and geographic history of the island of Ireland, the programme will empower you to explore your local area like never before, share your story and make history.***You will need a smartphone or tablet with a camera and microphone to take part in this course***How will this programme work?<ul><li>Historian Dr. Adrian Grant will host an online session on the creation of the Irish border and will share the fascinating maps that informed the work of the 1924-25 Boundary Commission.</li></ul><ul><li>Printmaker and cartographer Eamonn McRory will lead an 'Experimental Walking' session on how to capture and explore your local area in a new way, as well as talk through some of his previous projects including the Mapping an Alternative Ulster Exhibition.</li></ul><ul><li>The Nerve Centre's Creative Media Trainers will host masterclasses in photography, audio recording and editing as well as how to build your captured content into a virtual tour map.</li></ul><ul><li>Acclaimed musician and sound artist Natalia Beylis will facilitate a special workshop in soundscaping with tips and tricks on how to best capture sounds outdoors. </li></ul><ul><li>Renowned author Jan Carson will host a creative writing workshop to help you describe your map and your surroundings.</li></ul><ul><li>Join an online community through Slack to share your work, thoughts and questions with others.</li></ul>This programme is FREE and open to anyone aged 18+ and based in Northern Ireland or border counties. All creative skill abilities welcome. Numbers are limited.
