Invisible Visible Management Workshop

Invisible Visible Management Workshop

Palace Green LibraryDurham, England
Tuesday, June 2  •  12 PM - 2 PM
Overview

A creative exploration of disability and the barriers to workplace inclusion.

Invisible Visible was produced by artist Hope Caitlin in collaboration with arts education company Changing Relations and features conceptual photography and illustrations inspired by seven anonymous first-hand accounts of what it is like to be disabled in the workplace.

It is available as a digital exhibition on the Durham University website - https://stories.durham.ac.uk/invisible-visible/

Durham University will also host an in-person Management workshop to help you reimagine disability and create a workplace culture that enables your staff to thrive.

Have you ever considered what it would be like for a disabled employee attempting to communicate their limitations? Being disabled can feel akin to being invisible and hyper visible without ever really feeling seen.

This workshop, led by artist Hope Caitlin and experienced educator Lisa Charlotte Davis, will:

  • Foster a deeper understanding between professional leaders and disabled employees, creating a space of safe and inclusive communication
  • Use the Invisible Visible content as a creative way to explore our understanding of disability in the workplace, considering the challenges faced by those with experience of disability but also the unique contribution they are able to make
  • Enable you to recognise the often invisible barriers that prevent your disabled employees from thriving
  • Provide you with a gorgeous (FREE!!) workbook filled with artwork, lived experience testimony and space to note your reflections
  • Identify actionable steps to improve work life balance as it pertains to disability and chronic illness

Do let us know if you have any access needs you would like us to be aware of ahead of time - due to the nature of this workshop, inclusion is at the forefront. And if you have any specific questions you would like to be embedded within the workshop ahead of time do drop us a message!
