Overview

Iona Brown, a very well-known virtuosic soloist and principal first violin with the Royal Northern Sinfonia with David Murray

As part of our 2026 season of classic music concerts, brought to us by David and Jennifer Murray, it is a pleasure to welcome back Iona Brown a very well-known virtuosic soloist and principal first violin with the Royal Northern Sinfonia Orchestra (RNSO), who will present a programme featuring the music of English composers.

Iona first played at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre a year ago, leading the Da Vinci Quartet, including three other members of the RNSO.

On this occasion, she will be accompanied by David Murray, who is recognised as one of the North East’s most acclaimed pianists and who has performed many times at the centre. David has accompanied top musicians in recitals all over the world.

Iona, who is dedicated to music teaching, is a principal tutor at the Centre for Advanced Training at the Glasshouse Gateshead and is Head of Strings at Newcastle University.

We are once again grateful to David and Jennifer Murray, from Whitley Bay, for bringing such first-rate music to the centre.
