Description

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Ireland chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE). SIGCSE is the third largest (~2,800 member) and second oldest (founded 1970) of nearly 40 ACM SIGs.

The chapter launch will be held at the School of Computer Science at UCD on December 11 from 14.00-18.00 (tentative schedule below). The launch will feature keynotes by Professor Amber Settle (DePaul University, Chicago, USA), SIGCSE Board Member (immediate past-chair) and Dr Paul Dickson (Ithaca College, NY, USA). Attendance is free but registration is essential.

Tentative schedule:

  • 14.00-15.00: Early arrivals networking with tea, coffee and biscuits

  • 15.00-17.00: Chapter launch and keynote addresses

  • 17.00-18.00: Reception with festive treats

  • 18.00-?: Informal gathering at UCD University Club

Slight scheduling changes if required will be announced at https://sigcseire.acm.org, on the SIGCSEire members’ listserv, and to those registered via Eventbrite.

If you have any questions, please contact Brett Becker - brett.becker@ucd.ie.

We look forward to this new exciting chapter in Ireland's journey in Computer Science Education!
