Event Details

International Women's Day breakfast

Media Trust, in partnership with Ogilvy, is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion in celebration of International Women's Day.

In an era of fake news and events like Brexit and Grenfell, the media sector has often appeared out of touch with local issues and communities across Britain. There is also increasing concern about the influence wielded by social media networks and their impact on young people’s mental health. Meanwhile, the sector has been ridden with bad news about sexual harassment, pay discrimination and the lack of diversity particularly at senior levels. Despite all this, the media also plays a critical positive role in informing and changing perceptions, holding institutions accountable, connecting people and mobilising communities.

Our panel of outspoken leading female disruptors will discuss these challenges and what the sector needs to do in order to regain the public's trust.

  • Su-Mei Thompson, CEO, Media Trust

Media Trust

Media Trust believes in in the power of the media to change lives.

As a charity, we work in partnership with the creative and media industry to give marginalized groups a stronger voice. We do this by promoting skills-based volunteering, empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to work in media and encouraging constructive dialogue & collaboration with the media sector.

By bridging the gap between the media & creative industries and charities & under-represented communities we are contributing to a more responsible, representative & connected media sector and ultimately, a more socially cohesive Britain.
