Meeting point is at the public slipway on Hazel Road - opposite Doyle Sails (they are not part of organising the the clean up) . Every bit of litter and rubbish we pick up makes a difference.

Exact meeting point is at What 3 Words ///blend.skin.muddy

The Final Straw Foundation will provide gloves, litter pickers, bags and buckets, but if you have any of your own that you would like to use please bring them.

Please consider making a donation to our charity (you can do so here): https://www.justgiving.com/finalstrawfdn Donations help us to continue to keep our beach cleaning kit up together, enable us to continue our work with schools and communities and keep the charity going - thank you so much!

Our community beach cleans are open to individuals and small groups. If you're a business or corporate group looking to join, for your volunteering hours or team-building, we’ll need to arrange a bespoke private clean for you. These private cleans support our charity through a donation, ensuring we can continue our important work. Get in touch via hello@finalstrawfoundation.org to book your tailored experience.

B y signing up for the beach clean you confirm that you have read and agree to respect the following beach clean rules.

BEACH CLEAN RULES

- There will be a safety briefing at the start of the event, please listen carefully and adhere to the guidelines.

- Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and watch your footing. No flip-flops or sandals, please - sometimes stones can be sharp or there may be unseen broken glass on the beach.

- Only go where instructed to go on the day.

- Under 18's must be accompanied by a responsible adult who stays with them for the duration of the event, FSF accepts no responsibility for any minors attending the event.

- Do not enter the water. If you have a minor with you, please make sure they do not enter the water.

- Dress for the weather. If it's hot, wear sun cream, if it's raining bring a rain jacket and so on - layers are great.

- Please bring your own drink in a reusable container - no single-use plastic please!

- Do not pick up anything sharp (broken glass, needles etc). Inform a host and we will remove it. We will have a sharps bin with us.

- Participation is at the individual's own risk, but please report any incidents to the hosts.

- Do not put your hands anywhere near your face, especially eyes or mouth during the clean. You never know what you may have touched and your gloves will probably be dirty.

- Bring hand sanitiser for after the clean-up and wash your hands thoroughly as soon as possible after the event.

- Return all equipment and litter to the collection/drop-off spot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own beach cleaning kit?

Of course! Please just make sure that your gloves are strong and protective. We particularly welcome it if you have young children as we have fewer kits for very small people!

Is there parking?

Yes, but please be aware that the car park is a council car park and we sadly cannot cover your parking fee, so please make sure you buy a ticket! Please note that the nearest parking is 5 minutes walk - you will not be able to park at the slipway.

I can't come for the whole session - is that OK?

Absolutely. Our beach cleans usually last 2 hours, but if you can't do all of that it's absolutely fine. One of our team will always be by the meeting point if you need to finish early.

Why do I need to sign up?

By signing up, you help us to know how much kit to bring - litter pickers, gloves etc.

Do you have child sized gloves?

We have a few pairs but not loads - if you have some that are suitable for your child, please bring them!

What do you do with the rubbish collected?

We sort the rubbish at the end into 'real' rubbish that will be collected by the local council, and recycling. We take the recycling separately so that it doesn't end up in landfill or the Energy Reclamation Facility.

Is the beach clean accessible for those with impairments?

We are currently working on looking at the accessibility of each beach clean and for those with impairments such as learning issues, mobility and language. Details will be available on our website but if you do have specific issues then please email us in the meantime.

Is the beach clean just for families?

No all ages and abilities can attend. Some people come as a couple, some as individuals, students and families with children. If you have any specific question then please let us know.

Can I book more than 1 ticket?

Yes you can book up to 10 tickets - just click the + sign on the booking page. If you require more than 10 tickets then please contact us directly.

Why have you limited the number of tickets?

As the area to be cleaned is very small, there will be limited space for participants.
