Jamaican Patties Workshop
Hands-on Jamaican Patties Workshop — learn to make delicious patties, shape, bake, and taste Caribbean street-food classics.
As part of the Hidden Beach Summer of Culture, this hands-on Jamaican Patties Workshop invites participants to explore Caribbean food culture through cooking, creativity, and shared experience.
Led by our community kitchen team at Kitchen.HiddenBeach, attendees will learn how to prepare, fill, fold, and shape traditional Jamaican patties — from seasoning and flavour building to pastry techniques and baking. The workshop offers a practical, fun, and accessible introduction to Caribbean street food, celebrating bold flavours, cultural heritage, and the joy of making food together.
Participants will gain insight into the history and cultural roots of Jamaican patties, while developing real cooking skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. The session is designed to be welcoming for beginners, families, and curious food lovers — no prior experience required.
Throughout the workshop, there will be opportunities to taste, learn, and share, encouraging conversation, confidence in the kitchen, and a deeper appreciation for global food traditions. At the end of the session, participants can enjoy the patties they’ve made and take inspiration home to recreate the recipes.
This workshop supports Hidden Beach’s mission to create inclusive, community-led cultural experiences, using food as a powerful tool for connection, learning, and wellbeing. It also contributes to the ongoing development of Kitchen.HiddenBeach as a platform for skills-building, local enterprise, and cultural exchange.
A delicious, social, and empowering experience — perfect for anyone interested in Caribbean cuisine, hands-on cooking, and community food culture.
