About this event

On this two day professional intensive in sunny Brighton, UK you will be guided through James Wilton Dance’s unique floor-work and partner-work techniques, learning new rep from our upcoming work BACH Reimagined, as well as engaging with the creative ideas we use in the creation of our work to create your own choreography.

Each day will begin with a floor based technique class that draws influence from acrobatics, capoeira, contemporary dance and yoga. The class is fast paced, physical and based around fluidity and expansiveness. Class will teach you how to move with as much precision, power and articulation as possible, allowing you to access a deeper, three dimensional understanding of floor-work technique.

Following a short break you will learn repertoire from our upcoming 2025 work BACH Reimagined. The repertoire is physically and dynamically challenging, technically demanding and artistically enlightening.

After lunch the day finishes with partner work into creative work. We’ll teach you the philosophies, physical structures and methodologies we use when dueting, something which can be implemented in all aspects of performance training. You’ll learn how to keep the sense of flow and nuance that we find whilst dancing solo, and apply this to dancing with a partner.
