Why Mums in Technology?

Our courses are designed to provide you with the business know-how and practical coding skills you need to achieve your ambitions, and are built around our core values of flexibility and accessibility to fit in with your life and your baby.

Course delivery in partnership with industry

Sessions are delivered by industry experts from our partner businesses, and are hosted at their premises to give you direct experience of tech-heavy organisations that value flexibility, authenticity and diversity. To provide continuity, a Mums in Technology Programme Manager will lead each session and be on hand to answer your questions.

We offer a blended approach to learning, with sessions consisting of talks from technical experts and business leads, providing you with a firm understanding of theoretical concepts, as well as the opportunity for practical application – you’ll get the chance to build your own website and write programs to really get a feel for the magic of coding.

To complement the main sessions, field trips and mentoring opportunities will help you contextualise your learning and think about how you can make it work for you.

Affordable and reliable childcare on-site

We encourage you to bring your child with you, and provide the flexibility and support you need to make this happen. We offer on-site childcare from qualified Poppins App nannies, at the special rate of £100 for all six sessions of the course – that works out at less than £6 per hour!

We’re also very happy for you to bring young babies into the sessions with you if you’d be more comfortable with that – and there’s a crèche right next door to the classroom if you need to leave for a few minutes.

What commitment do you need from me?

First Steps to Coding is a six week course, and you must pay for the full six weeks up front when you enrol. The cost for the course is £350 (excluding childcare).

The course consists of six three-hour sessions, once a week (except during school holidays).

We know you’re busy and fitting in extra work at home might not be possible – that’s why we don’t require you to complete any homework. Any practice or reading you can fit in will help you with your learning, but it’s not necessary to complete the course.

No prior knowledge of coding is required for the First Steps to Coding course – just a keen interest and a desire to learn!

If you have any questions about the course, or if you’re not sure it’s for you, read our FAQs or get in touch and we’ll be happy to help!
