Description
The CWU has teamed up with the #JC4PM tour to host a spectacular event at this year’s CWU Annual Conference featuring some of the country's most highly sought after speakers, poets, musicians and comedians.
Tickets for this event are FREE but need to be booked in advance.
Compered by blisteringly funny Jen Brister (who hosted the first #JC4PM event in London where Jeremy Corbyn made a surprise appearance), performers include:
Billy Bragg, singer/songwriter and political activist (‘Red Wedge’, ‘A new England’, ‘Between the Wars’, 'To Have and To Have Not'). He has supported many campaigns over the years, including the 1984 miners’ strike and Charter 88.
Shappi Khorsandi, comedian (‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’), author (‘A Beginner’s Guide to Acting English’), TV and radio panelist (‘Question Time’, ‘Have I Got News For You?, ‘QI’, ‘Loose Ends’, ‘News Quiz’)
Francesca Martinez, comedian (‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’), actress (‘Extras’), author (‘What the **** is Normal?’), radio panelist (‘The News Quiz’)
Attila the Stockbroker, punk poet who was launched into public consciousness by legendary Radio One DJ John Peel in 1982/83, and he has spent 35 years touring the world, performing well over 3,000 gigs in 24 countries and releasing 40 LPs/EPs/CDs and seven books of poetry.
Grainne Maguire, comedian (‘Stewart Lee’s Alternative Comedy Experience”, “Stephen K Amos’ An Idiots Guide”, radio (“Women’s Hour”). TV panelist ('Question Time')
Grace Petrie, singer/songwriter (described by the Guardian as “a powerful new songwriting voice”). There is a clip of her performing at the Bristol #JC4PM tour date here. Has made several appearances on BBC4’s ‘The Now Show’ and has recorded seven highly acclaimed albums.
Patrick Monahan, comedian (winner of ITV's 'Show me the Funny', Stand up for Labour 'Act of the Year', Ents 24's 'The UK's Hardest Working Comic, 2015')
Joe Wells, one of the best young political comedians on the comedy circuit, Joe has toured with Alexei Sayle, appeared on Amnesty International's 'Human TV' and writes for TV's 'The Revolution Will Be Televised'
