An evening of immersive new works for bassoon, live electronics and reactive light design with pieces by John Aulich and Dai Fujikura.

An exciting international and interdisciplinary collaboration between Berlin-based artists Olivia Palmer-Baker (IE), José del Avellanal Carreño (ES), and the local, Huddersfield-based-artist John Aulich (UK) comes in its final form to Manchester!This collaboration is centered around the work je mets mon scaphandre, commissioned for this project:Je mets mon scaphandre is an immersive work for bassoon, surround-sound electronics and sound-reactive lighting. The piece’s meditative sound-world reflects the feminist theory of the ‘leaky body', inviting us to rethink the human body as fluid and amorphous, constantly reconfiguring in response to its environment. Here, the built-in spatiality and the leaky, unstable nature of the bassoon are brought into dialogue with this theory, amplified and translated through sound and light.Alongside this work, two further works, one from John, and one commissioned by Olivia, will be featured._______________________________________________________Je mets mon scaphandre will be performed at the International Anthony Burgess on October 17, 2025.
