On Tuesday 7 June the Jersey Construction Council will be holding an Election Briefing and Debate for all candidates who have registered their intention to stand for election in 2022. The event will take place at the Pomme D'Or hotel commencing at 7.30am with teas, coffees and bacon rolls being served and the briefing starting at 8.00am and lasting around 90 minutes.
Kindly sponsored by Benest & Syvret, this event aims to provide as much information as possible to election candidates on the issues and concerns of the industry. With over 6,500 employees in the construction industry this amounts to a significant portion of the economy of the Island and with important projects coming to the market place over the next few years, it is important that all government representatives are aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
Topics for discussion include:
People – Population & licensing/training and facilities/apprenticeships
Policies – Building Bye-Laws/Bridging Island Plan/Carbon Neutral Roadmap and their impact on the environment
Productivity – Modern Methods of Construction/Efficiencies/Linking to the Hospital, Ports, Andium and SoJDC projects
Prices – Post Brexit/Salaries/House Prices/Construction cost inflation
Each table will be hosted by a JeCC board member whose role will be to encourage discussion and encourage questions. We aim to support candidate’s tables with input from yourself and other business leaders.
We hope to have an open and engaging discussion with our future politicians.
