Join us for a walk and talk around East Bergholt, Flatford and Dedham to hear stories about John Constable's life, work and legacy.
Join us for a walk around East Bergholt, Flatford and Dedham with Constable experts Emma Roodhouse, curator of the Colchester and Ipswich Museums Service, and John Day, who runs the East Anglian Traditional Art Centre. Hear about John Constable's life, work and legacy in the Dedham Vale National Landscape, a nationally protected area, which was designated for its outstanding natural beauty and cultural heritage and has not changed that much since Constable's time.
Starting at the Red Lion car park, this 4.5 mile walk will take us along quiet lanes, footpaths and on the riverbanks of the River Stour to Dedham Bridge, passing grazing cows, visiting Dedham Church and Flatford National Trust the site of Flatford Mill, Willy Lott's House and Bridge Cottage, before returning to East Bergholt.
Please wear suitable clothing for the weather, sensible walking footwear and bring a bottle of water and a snack. Dogs must be on leads and under close control.
