Jokes at the Folk returns with a hilarious ‘double headliner’ comedy night on Friday 10 May.

We have a fantastic line-up:

  • Headliners Dan Antopolski, winner of Best Joke at the Edinburgh Fringe, and Liam Farrelly, as seen on Live at the Apollo (BBC 1)
  • Jacob Nussey, Bury Met Comedian of the Year
  • Special guest host Stevie Gray – “A real crowd pleaser”, Notts Comedy Review

Dan Antopolski is “the natural heir to Bill Bailey” (The Observer). He’s a three-time Perrier Award nominee, and winner of the BBC New Comedy Award and Best Joke at the Edinburgh Fringe. His film and TV credits include The Stand Up Show (ITV), Live at the Electric (BBC3) and Paddington 2! “There are few who can match him” (The Telegraph).

Liam Farrelly started performing stand up when he was still at school. Since then he’s won Scottish Comedian of the Year (2021) and been on Live at the Apollo (BBC1). He headlines at all the best clubs in the country, from The Stand in Edinburgh to The Comedy Store in London and Manchester. Bruce Dessau of The Evening Standard says he’s “on the road to comedy greatness”.

Jacob Nussey is a fast-rising star of the comedy circuit. He’s the current Bury Met Comedian of the year, and was a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year. He also made the semi finals of British Comedian of the Year and the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition (previous finalists include Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan). Jacob is “one to watch” according to comedy website chortle.co.uk

Stevie Gray is our special guest compere. A cheeky and likeable comedian, Stevie has performed at comedy clubs, theatres and music festivals all over the world. He’s also written and performed for the BBC, ITV and Sky Sports, and he’s the promoter and host of four comedy clubs in the Midlands. “A real crowd pleaser.” Notts Comedy Review
