Join us for the Journal & Book Binding WORKSHOP!

Let's get creative at LOCKHAUGH FARM on SATURDAY March 28, 2026 |10:30 AM -16:30 PM (Europe/London time)

Our all-day workshop invites you to explore and experiment with various materials to craft your own personalised journals or sketchbooks using the centuries old Japanese stab binding technique with intricate stitching and concertina bookbinding. All equipment and materials are provided.

The day begins with a warm welcome and introduction, followed by a guided walk in nature to explore the beautiful surroundings of Lockhaugh Farm located in the Derwent Valley. This gentle walk helps set the tone for an immersive and creative workshop facilitated by our 2026 Artist-in-Residence Louise Bradley; an accomplished painter, printmaker and artist facilitator with over 30 years experience.

For lunch, enjoy a delicious plant-centric meal inspired by the seasons and made with love. All ingredients are organic and, wherever possible, locally and ethically sourced.

ABOUT US ..

After working in the arts and living abroad for many years Deborah returned to North East England to renovate Lockhaugh Farm as a retreat space for guests to holiday and for her to curate small intimate events in collaboration with experts who share her enthusiasm for wellness and nature.

Louise came to Newcastle to study Fine Art and remained to pursue a career in painting, printmaking and artist facilitation which now spans 30 years. Based out of 36 Lime Street in the Ouseburn cultural quarter of Newcastle upon Tyne, she works from life or en plein air and her work is inspired by the colour, patterns, rhythms, fragility and supremacy of nature. During her 12 month residency at Lockhaugh Farm she is striving to represent the seasonal changes in flora, fauna and the environment through the year.
