Juliet Jacques In Conversation

Generatoris a Dundee-based organisation established in 1996. The aim of the organisation is to generate vibrant cultures across Dundee through providing sustained support towards artistic practice in all its diversity and a varied programme of exhibitions and events.Alongside the primary aim of being collectively held by those who wish to engage and support the continuation of the organisation, Generator hosts a project and exhibition space better known as Generator Projects. This space was established to allow creative practitioners, developing experimental, critical and/or contemporarily relevant work, the opportunity to exhibit. It is facilitated by the Generator committee, a rolling collective of volunteers, who dedicate two years of their time to ensure the continuation of this programmed space and the broader aspects of the organisation.

In Conversation: Juliet JacquesTHIS SATURDAY (18th March) at 7pm!Juliet Jacques is a writer and filmmaker known for her <a href="https://julietjacques.com/film/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">short films</a>, her non-fiction books <a href="https://julietjacques.com/books/trans-a-memoir/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Trans: A Memoir</a> (Verso, 2015) and <a href="https://julietjacques.com/books/front-lines-trans-journalism-2007-2021/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Front Lines: Trans Journalism 2007-2021</a> (Cipher Press, 2022), her collection of short stories <a href="https://julietjacques.com/books/variations/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Variations</a> (Influx Press, 2021), and her journalism, essays and criticism on literature, film, art, music, politics, gender, sexuality and football.At this special event, Juliet will read some excerpts from various works including Variations and her journalism and discuss questions around the politics and labour of artistic production. We will also talk a little about the aesthetics and politics of football, as well as taking questions from the audience about Juliet’s work and any points that arise from her readings.We will have some food, booze and soft drinks available. We are super excited to be hosting this event and hope to see you there!
