Just Three Words

Our annual programme of talks is open to member and non-members (rates may vary).Although some topics may specifically relate to Pontefract and the surrounding towns and villages, we do include a wider geography and a broad range of heritage, social history, architecture, events and people. We also host an annual Design Awards event to recognise positive development and regeneration in the area across a number of categories, including the Countess of Rosse Facade of the Year Award.

<p>Chris Cade is an actor and storyteller in educational theatre, who will be presenting to us ‘Just Three Words’ which tells the heart-felt tale of Albert Johnson who joins up with the Local Defence Volunteers in 1940. He is on duty as a member of the Home Guard during the York Baedeker Air Raid of April 1942........ and witnesses its consequences.</p>
