Kids Art Class (ages 8 - 12) - Let's learn how to draw cool stuff
Event Information
About this Event
Let's get creative with our fun during this January by learning lots of cool stuff.
THIS CLASS HAS SOLD OUT FOR JANUARY 7TH
These sessions have been designed to open up all kinds of interesting worlds of art making for children. We will start with looking at Op Art and learning how to make our own optical illusions using just a black pen and white paper. From there we will learn about the fun world of Nicolas Party and his dreamy still life artworks. We will then visit the images of Yayoi Kusama and look at drawing people. Finally, we will land in Henri Matisse's studio and make an artwork inspired by this great master.
My lessons are always grounded in a art history and delivered with enthusiasm with a young audience in mind. Children love a good story and there are so many good stories to learn.
We will then learn new art making techniques.
Each session lasts 50 minutes to an hour, giving children the opportunity to interact and show their work throughout the lessons.
These sessions are perfect for children ages 8 to 12. These sessions are designed for them to work on their own. Afterward they will have the skills needed to go off and make lot of interesting artwork in their creative free time.
My art lessons are taught through the magic of zoom. It is advisable that cameras are on for at least a couple of minutes in the beginning so that I can see everyone (it's nice to know who I am teaching) however after that if your child prefers to have their camera turned off, that's completely fine.
Sessions and supplies needed:
January 7 - Op Art (pencil, ruler, bowl, black pen and white paper)
January 14 - Still Life with Nicolas Party (colouring pencils, paper, three items to draw which can be anything you like)
January 21 - Yayoi Kusama and drawing faces (watercolour paint, paint brush, water cup, pencil, ink pen)
January 28 - Henri Matisse and drawing a room with a window to the outside world (oil pastels and paper)
Background:
I have been teaching art sessions online for over a year, even before the pandemic made life a little interesting. I have taught adults and children all over the world and am excited that online teaching can bring us all together. I am a practicing artist so this is an artist led lessons. My own art practice keeps me busy with commissions (private and corporate) plus exhibiting in various shows.
Below you will find images of artworks created in previous sessions.
