KIDS CLASS: Collaging Characters
Event Information
About this Event
Join tutor Lucy McGeown as we look at all the different ways in which we can create new images with the ones we find in newspapers and magazines.
In this session we will be looking at the ways artists such as Romare Bearden, John Stezaker and Donald Rodney use collage in their work to give us inspiration in how we can make our own unique characters by collaging found imagery.
These classes are designed for ages 7-10 yrs but we have both older and younger students join us.
We recommend parents join children in these sessions as it is a lovely activity to share together!
MATERIALS
1-2 pieces of paper to use a base to stick the characters on
Plenty of newspaper or magazine pages ( preferably lots of pictures or colourful pages)
A Glue stick, tape or glue and a brush
Scissors

20% of profits from all the Kids Classes running in July and August will be donated to The Black Curriculum . The Black Curriculum is a social enterprise founded in 2019 by young people to address the lack of Black British history in the UK Curriculum. We believe that by delivering arts focused Black history programmes, providing teacher training and campaigning through mobilising young people, we can facilitate social change. Their programmes are for all young people aged 8-16 and aim to equip young people with a sense of identity, and the tools for a diverse landscape. They are working towards changing the national curriculum and building a sense of identity in every young person in the UK.
