A Student/Young Pugwash (SYP) UK webinar on lethal autonomous weapons, or 'killer robots'.

We will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss the ethical, political and technical issues relating to lethal autonomous weapons. Our speakers will include:<ul><li>Laura Nolan, a software engineer with 15 year&#x27;s experience in the tech industry. Laura recently resigned from Google in protest over its involvement with the US DoD&#x27;s &#x27;Project Maven&#x27;, which uses artificial intelligence to analyse drone surveillance footage. In 2018 Laura founded TechWontBuildIt Dublin, an organisation for technology for ethically-minded tech workers.</li></ul><ul><li>Elizabeth Minor, an Advisor at Article 36, a UK-based non-profit organisation that works to develop new policies and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from weapons. For Article 36, Elizabeth sits on the international steering committee of the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots, and focuses on research, policy analysis and advocacy in international forums.</li></ul><ul><li>David Alexandre Ellwood, a theoretical physicist, mathematician, and a member of the Executive Committee of British Pugwash.
