A simple, stylised, yet timelessly elegant garment, the Kimono works with anything from a pair of jeans to an evening dress! If you’re wanting the challenge of sewing precisely and neatly, this is a good place to start! Join us on May 31, June 24 & July 1 at 1-3pm, to make skills-samples of fastenings, seams, hems and edgings, and from there we will plan with you to make & finish your own Kimono.

All the equipment and tools you need are provided for the whole course including a Kimono pattern. If you have your own sewing machine & equipment, it’s a great idea to bring them if you can, to learn on what you will later be using at home. Fabric and haberdashery is also provided for all the skills-samples you will make, along with the Sewing Tutor portfolio pages on which to mount your samples and make further notes. Requirements for fabric & haberdashery for the Kimono will be emailed to you prior to the course starting; why not try upcycling fabric for this project?!

Please note - the workshops are on the 2nd floor and unfortunately there is no lift.

What should I bring?

We will let you know Fabric & haberdashery requirements for the Kimono after booking. Optional: an A4 folder for your samples & notes; your own sewing machine and/or equipment if you have them, so you learn on what you will be later using at home.

Do you have other courses I can do after this?

Yes! And we'd love you to join another of our workshops! Whether you’re a seasoned sewer or just starting out, we have loads of great skills and project based workshops happening now and coming up. So keep an eye on our website, janehdee.com/sewing-tutor, & the Eventbrite listings.

What if I can't make one of those dates?

We may be able to amend 1-2-1 & private Group bookings with 2 weeks notice. All other workshops we cannot change so recommend you please check dates before booking. OR you could buy a Voucher to use at a time which suit you. For unforeseen circumstances, we can plan homework with you.

Can I get a refund?

As we buy stock well ahead of each course, unfortunately we cannot give refunds from 14 days before the start date. But please be in touch because if we have others waiting, a refund may be possible. If it's because you cannot make a workshop, we can help you plan homework instead!

Organized by

Sewing Tutor Workshops offer hands-on skills and project based learning. The Skills-based workshops offer courses which focus on making samples of a wide range of skills, which you mount on your Sewing Tutor pages, and can refer back to, to help you in further projects (example Code L1S1). In the Project-based workshops students make skills-samples specific to the item they will be making, for example a skirt (example code L2P5). As with the skill-based learning, students mount these skill-samples in their Sewing Tutor pages, which becomes their own Sewing Tutor how-to reference guide.
