Kintsugi, which literally translates as 'golden joinery', celebrates the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection.In this beginners workshop you will:<ul><li>be given your own toolbox which will contain all the materials and items you need for this workshop.</li><li>learn step-by-step how to safely break pottery and to repair it with gold, thereby embracing the cracks to make unique pieces of art.</li><li>make two finished Kintsugi pieces to take home which make beautiful mementoes of the day and can be used as ornaments or gifts.</li></ul>Why this workshop is so special:<ul><li>Kintsugi is a mindful, meditative art form that celebrates the beauty in imperfection.</li><li>It is a relaxing creative experience that you can share with others.</li><li>Your Kintsugi ceramics are unique personalised pieces of art that embrace the power of transformation.</li></ul>

Artist bio:Amelia has a Master's degree in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage from the University of Lincoln. She is a gilt frame, objects, and decorative surfaces conservator and restorer and has worked in the Fine Arts sector for over 5 years gaining extensive experience in restoring and conserving antiques. During this time, she worked with Kintsugi and developed the technique for beginners to enjoy this creative art. About the venue Sunny Bank Mills is an inspirational cultural destination in the heart of the local community of Farsley, Leeds. Founded in 1829, these glorious Mills are being regenerated by the sixth generation of the family owners, creating a wonderful blend of work, leisure and culture. Course terms and booking conditions Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. As materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable. If we need to cancel the course for any reason your ticket will be fully refunded.
