Can any parent come along to this KH wellbeing group?

Accepted Answer

No.  This Kintsugi Hope group is specifically for parents who have children with additional support needs.  The child does not need to have a formal diagnosis for the parent to attend and the child can be of any age.

Question 2

Do I need to come to all 12 sessions?

We would encourage you come along to all the sessions but we recognise that life can be unpredictable, so attendance at all the sessions is not compulsory.  If you have not attended session 1, 2 or 3 then you cannot come to other sessions.

Question 3

How much does the Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing Course cost to attend?

Nothing!  We are delighted to have funding and volunteers that allow us to offer this free.  There will be an opportunity to make a donation towards future wellbeing courses if you would like to.

Question 4

Who is running the course?

Accepted Answer

The course is being run by InTogether which is a mission Initiative of the Church of Scotland.  InTogether is aimed at families who have children with additional support needs.  The group leaders are trained volunteers and staff of InTogether.

Question 5

What happens in each session?

Accepted Answer

Each session has a topic and includes some group learning, watching a video, group discussion, individual activities to help you reflect personally.  There will also be a chance for some refreshments.  There will be lots of opportunity to chat (or just listen) to others stories and experiences.

I feel nervous about coming along.

We get it!  Coming to a new group can be an anxiety inducing situation but we hope that this group will help.  Please know that the group leaders are there to help you.  The first session on 5th May will be an informal meet and greet - this is a chance to meet the group leaders and visit the space.

I have never been to any other InTogether events - can I still attend the wellbeing groups?

This is an easy one - YES as long as you have a child with additional support needs!  We would really welcome the opportunity to get to get to know you and hear about your family

Question 8

The wellbeing group is being held in a church - is it just for Christians?

Accepted Answer

Kintsugi Hope is for people of any faith, no faith and those that are not sure.  InTogether is a Christian project. Spirituality will be discussed  as part of wellbeing and some people may share stories about their faith journey but any faith activities will be optional.

I cannot attend in person, can I join online?

This is an in person only course.  If you would be interested in an online version, please email contact@intogether.co.uk and we will take that into consideration when planning future sessions.

Question 10

Is there parking nearby?

Yes there is lots of paid parking near by either in car parks or on street parking.  Parking at Catherine's Retail park can give you a few hours of free parking.
