Krishna Cultural Evening
Gentle Hare Krishna Chant Music, cheese and crackers - light snacks, socializing, a short enlivening talk and discussion
We're delighted to invite you to an interesting cultural evening. Meet Krishna people who live on Inish Rath Island, Upper Lough Erne. Vidura, the man in charge there, will give a short talk about Vedic wisdom and the beliefs, plus he has some interesting stories to tell from 20 years living in Africa (Kenya, Uganda and other countrires). There will be some warm Krishna kirtan chant music by candle-light. People will have a chat and socialize, and there will be some snacks served.
There is a ticket price of £7. This is to help us rent the hotel conference room and to help with advertising the event. Young people can come with a friend with the two-for-one deal: two tickets for £7. If you are going through financial difficulities, just send Tim an email at Lakeisle@gmail.com. We can sort you out at no charge.
Krishna is a name for the masculine divine in the Vedic understanding. Hara, Haré and Radha are names for the feminine divine. The Vedic texts strongly influenced the later traditions referred to as Hinduism, Buddhism and Yoga. The main sections of the Veda were written down from 3000BC. 'Haré Krishna' - these are the first two words of an ancient Vedic mantra. From 1967 in the USA, newspapers and TV began to refer to a group of people chanting this mantra in public spaces as 'Hare Krishna people'.
