Labyrinth Evening

St Paul’s Cathedral Institute explores faith and spirituality, art and history, and contemporary issues. The programme is open to all and includes online events, reflective study days, workshops and talks. All are welcome and bursaries are available if the cost of the event is prohibitive for you. (Please email SPCI@stpaulscathedral.org.uk for more information on our bursaries).

You are invited to explore the sacred space of St Paul's Cathedral by walking our Labyrinth under the Dome.

Please note that this is a reflective experiential event and not for sightseeing, and is for people aged 16 years and above only.Exploring sacred space.Come and walk a Labyrinth under the magnificent Dome of St Paul's. Experience Wren's sacred space created to inspire awe and wonder. Enjoy the tranquillity and stillness of the Nave and Transepts in the early evening. You are also welcome to join the daily service of Evensong beforehand at 5pm and conclude your experience with a short service of night prayer at 7.45pm.You will receive a short written explanation about labyrinths and suggestions for how to make the most of your experience. Staff will be available to help you and answer any questions.When you register you will be asked to choose which timed slot you would like to attend - do note that this is the time that you will be able to walk the Labyrinth but you will be able to enter the Cathedral to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere at any time after the doors open at 6.10pm, or even at 4.45pm for the 5pm Evensong.Anything else I need to know?We'll ask you to take your shoes off to walk the Labyrinth so you might want to wear your best socks!In the time available to you before or after your Labyrinth walk, you are also warmly invited to step into a space we have set aside for gentle creative reflection, where you can shape your Labyrinth journey into narrative or poetry as you consider the words that may rise from your experience.Your ticket will allow you into the Cathedral to walk the Labyrinth and explore the Nave and Transepts but the rest of the Cathedral including the Crypt will be closed. It doesn't allow you access to the Galleries or to an audio guide.During this evening there will be an opportunity to experience a Christian mindfulness taster session lasting 20 minutes. The session will run twice, once at 6.30pm and again at 7pm. The sessions will be led by Martin Zetter of <a href="https://www.mindful-worklife.com/" title="https://www.mindful-worklife.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mindful WorkLife</a> who helps busy people to use meditation and mindfulness to manage stress.Christian mindfulness is an awareness of God in the present moment. It has the benefit of growing our relationship with God’s love and deepening that sense of connection to other people and the whole of creation. It also brings the same benefits to our physical and mental well-being as secular mindfulness.
