Thamesmead will have its own marathon this coming May 4th! Local artists will be showcasing their skills in a drawing relay marathon.

Cygnet Square

As part of the public events programme organized by BowArts the first Saturday of the month at the popular Cygnet Square by the Lakeside in Thamesmead, this arts activation will take place May 4th, from 10 am to 1 pm. During 3 hours Bow Arts artists will take turns at drawing nonstop, marathon style, at their canopy on site. Each artist will work with their subject and dry media of choice on paper, in their own style, ranging from portraits of people and their pets to abstract doodling or conceptual mark making. Drawings will be temporarily hung within the canopy and a selection collected, once the Drawathon ends, to be donated to the <a href="https://thamesmeadcommunityarchive.org.uk/" title="https://thamesmeadcommunityarchive.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Thamesmead Community Archive</a>.

Agenda

Myra Barraza is an international artist exploring layered figuration in her medium of choice, oil painting . Myra will be drawing portraits in mixed media to the sound of the sitters favourite songs. 

Drawing Session 1

Ian Maslen is an abstract painter. His paintings are based on the urban environment and built in multiple layers. Ian will be making abstract drawings in mixed media inspired in the local architecture.

Drawing Session 2

Myra will be drawing dogs in this session, live or from photos, using oil pastels. Pop in with your pup!

Drawing Session 3

Chloe Cooper is a zine maker and passionate paper marbler. Chloe will be creating cartoon-y characters from what she sees. 

Drawing Session 4

Roni Parker is an abstract expressionist artist painting intuitively using bold colours. Roni will be journaling using doodles. 

Drawing Session 5

This session will be open to the public for improvisations on one large scale community drawing where people can doodle, draw themselves, write texts, make cartoons and more.
