About the EventThis workshop will explore the relationship between language and sustainability from multiple angles. It is aimed at language researchers or practitioners, and anyone who is interested in the connection between Culture and Nature. It will involve five 45-minute group activities organized by specialists from a cross-section of disciplines. A vegetarian packed lunch will be included, as well as ample tea and coffee breaks to stimulate discussion!Rather than seeking to present an authoritative standpoint, the workshop will encourage participants to find their own ways of connecting language and sustainability from diverse perspectives. Workshop leaders have been invited to conduct each session on any topic and in any way they wish, provided it addresses the connection between language and sustainability in some form – so expect the unexpected! The building is a bit of a maze, so I have included the following instructions about how to find the room. I think the simplest way is option 1 below:1. From first George Street entrance (close to North Portland Street). Take stairs or lift up to Level 7. Coming out of the lift, GH713 is through the double doors to the right (see paper sign on wall opposite lift). If you are taking the stairs, when you get to Level 7, follow the blue sign (GH710-GH739) through the double doors into the Law School. You will then see the paper sign to GH713 on the wall opposite. Turn right through the double doors, and GH713 is straight ahead.2. From second George Street entrance (almost opposite Shuttle Street). Turn left through double doors. Take lift or stairs to Level 7. Follow the blue sign that says "Rooms GH733-GH701". Keep straight ahead all the way. GH713 is straight ahead after the last set of double doors that you pass through.3. From Richmond Street entrance (opposite the Student Union). Take lift or stairs to Level 7 (please note - the "ground floor" of the Richmond Street entrance is actually Level 4). Follow the blue sign (rooms GH704-GH739). After passing through several double doors, you will arrive at a staircase. Keep straight ahead through the double doors into the Law School. You will see a paper sign to GH713 on the wall opposite.
