<h1>Language Learning and Migrant &#x27;integration&#x27;:</h1><h1>Perspectives from Scotland and England</h1><h3>23rd March 2023, 13:00-16:00 (online)</h3>What is the relationship between language learning and migrant ‘integration’? Is it understood in the same ways by learners, teachers, funders and policymakers? How are learners’ needs and experiences shaped by location, migrant status and/or gender? These are some of the questions explored in a recent study of <a href="https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/socialpolitical/research/sociology/projects/languagelearningmigrantintegrationscotland/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">language learning and migrant ‘integration’ in Scotland (LLAMIS)</a> This British-Academy funded research was conducted in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Glasgow in 2019-2021 by <a href="https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/socialpolitical/staff/francescastella/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Francesca Stella</a> and <a href="https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/socialpolitical/staff/rebeccakay/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rebecca Kay </a>(University of Glasgow). In this online workshop, we will share key findings from the project and put them into conversation with research and practice from other parts of Scotland and England. There will also be an opportunity to discuss recommendations for policy and practice emerging from the study.
