Equate Scotland is a Scottish government-funded national organisation with the strategic objectives of promoting gender equality in science, technology, engineering, environment (natural and built) and mathematics (STEM). Founded in 2006 as the Scottish Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology; it rebranded in 2014 to Equate Scotland. The programme is hosted by Edinburgh Napier University with the objective of increasing participation and advancement of women in STEM through training, advocacy, partnerships with employers and higher education institutions, active research and building peer to peer networks.Website: https://equatescotland.org.uk/

Come along to our “Launching into STEM” event on the 29th of March at Edinburgh Napier University’s Merchiston Campus. Women from across the STEM industries will share their experiences within their field, give valuable insights on how to prepare for, and navigate, your career growth in STEM, and answer questions. Starting at 4:30pm there will be refreshments and beverages available, with our panel beginning at 5pm. This get together is an opportunity to meet other women in SCEBE, hosted by Napier Stem Society, Equate Scotland, and SCEBE.Our panel includes: Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor, <a href="http://carolmarsh.co.uk/index.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Carol Marsh</a>, an Edinburgh Napier graduate who has been working in the field of electronics engineering for almost 40 years and is currently head of digital systems in the cutting-edge technology company <a href="https://www.celestia-uk.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Celestia UK</a>.<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/marie-claire-nyinawumuntu-a6761737/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Marie-Claire Nyinawumuntu</a> is Sustrans Principal Engineer and leads the Engineering team and Engineering Programme. Her role is to deliver new routes on National Cycle Network, improve and maintain existing infrastructures in other road networks. She has a MSc Degree in Civil Engineering &amp; Construction Management and over 18 years’ working experience in Civil Engineering, Active Travel, Transportation &amp; Highways projects within the UK and Rwanda where she is originally from. Marie-Claire is also a poet and a published Author and her passion is to empower young people and women, contribute to fix climate change and reducing inequalities<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/monica-richardson-91269a128/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/monica-richardson-91269a128/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Monica Richardson</a> graduated<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/monica-richardson-91269a128/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a> from Edinburgh Napier in October 2021 with a BSc (Hons) Software Development. Monica was one of the first to complete Napier&#x27;s Software Development Graduate Apprenticeship program, earning her degree whilst working full-time for the Azure CMS provider, Forrit. After graduating, Monica went on to lead the delivery of the Microsoft Education website on Forrit&#x27;s CMS platform. She is now an Application Developer for the global investment management firm, Baillie Gifford.Christine Eckford, graduated from Edinburgh Napier in 2020 with a degree in Cyber Security. She has since began lecturing Cyber Security and Forensics at West Lothian College. In 2021, she co-founded and became the CEO of the charity organisation Citizens of Cyber, an incredible company which promotes online safety and provides cyber-education aimed towards people of all ages.
