This session is only for London College of Fashion students and graduates. It is aligned to your Graduate Futures careers and employability journey.

During this insightful webinar Betty Burn Miller, Tailor and Alternations Assistant will share her journey from internships to graduation and to working for Kipper and Chalk and their mission to make custom tailoring more accessible and welcoming.

Betty will offer first-hand advice on navigating the fashion industry and candidly discuss the challenges of navigating the recruitment process and how to make an impact once you’ve secured your dream job.

This online session will allow you to ask questions directly to an LCF alumni and will give you an in-depth understanding of working in the world of bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring.

  • Melanie Mitchell, Graduate Futures Careers Consultant: Leveraging over 30 years of experience as a Buyer, Headhunter and now Consultant, Melanie has worked with a number of brands including Christian Louboutin, Vivienne Westwood, AllSaints, Threads Styling and Sweaty Betty on projects relating to talent acquisition and executive search. Passionate about helping to build both brands and careers through putting the right people, in the right place at the right time she continues to use her industry expertise to coach and inspire the next generation looking to pursue careers in fashion.
  • Betty Burn Miller, Tailoring and Alterations Assistant, Kipper & Chalk: Betty achieved a First-Class Honours degree in BA Fashion Pattern Cutting from LCF during which time she secured internships at Jenny Packham, Renli Su and Kipper and Chalk a contemporary tailoring house founded by fellow alumni and graduate from LCF’s BA Bespoke Tailoring Imogen Johnson-Gilbert. Betty continued to work at Kipper and Chalk during her final year and on graduating was employed as a permanent member of the team, designing zero waste garments, upcycling and giving new life to suits, and assisting on bespoke orders. Betty is also in the initial stages of starting her own business with a focus on sustainable designs and pattern cutting.
