Immersive technologies and techniques can deliver exciting new experiences for customers, visitors and audiences. The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University are combining their expertise in these areas and working with local businesses to introduce them to the technologies and help develop viable products. This will help businesses maximise potential and profit in a post-pandemic economy.

Gain a deeper understanding of Augmented Reality & design a prototype Augmented Reality experience to engage your customers in exciting ways

BackgroundAugmented reality (AR) creates enhanced experiences for users by seamlessly blending the physical ‘real-world’ with overlaid virtual information, e.g. digitally overlaying visual objects on the physical world viewed through a phone camera and an App. AR also extends to other sensory information (sound, smell, touch) and a cocktail of stimuli can be used to create truly memorable, multi-sensory immersive experiences for users.Session OverviewOver the course of three Focus sessions, our LEADD:NG experts from the <a href="https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/mixedrealitylab/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mixed Reality Lab</a> will work with you to design bespoke, proof-of-concept prototype AR experiences that can promote your work or add a new dimension to your products and services. We will begin by exploring AR technology in greater depth: How does it work? What are its limitations? What are its potential uses and applications? We will then switch to an ideation dialogue with our experts to investigate the key features of an AR experience that will appeal to your customers and audiences, before focussing on practical aspects of implementation by examining case studies of existing AR experiences and the underlying processes used to create them.Finally, we will guide you through the process of designing a prototype AR experience.Is this session right for me?If you are interested in learning how to harness immersive, AR technology to promote your work, products and services, or to create memorable, engaging experiences for your customers and audiences, then we want to work with you.This series of three sequential Focus events follows on from our Wide Angle “Introduction to Immersive Technology” session.
