Learn Argentine Tango - A beginners taster session 

RoyHigginbottomTango has been my passion for over 12 years now and the Tango Lab is a culmination of that experience. It’s an exploration of all aspects of Argentinean tango, teaching, learning, social dancing and most of all having serious fun!I have taught informally on a regular basis from around 2008 and have undertaken tango teacher training with Eric Jorissen at El Corte in the Netherlands in 2014, 2016 and 2018.In terms of style, the focus will be on dancing in very close embrace, aiming for understated elegance, musicality and respect for other dancers on the floor.My teaching focusses on developing connection and technique that is well suited to small spaces and busier dance floors that are the norm where I usually dance in Europe.I also put a lot of emphasis on body awareness and bodywork to support key aspects of the dance. I am a qualified Zen Yoga Teacher (200hours) from which much of this is drawn as well as many years of martial arts training, other movement practices and my alter ego as a mindfulness meditation teacher.I look forward to meeting you on the course!Roy

This session will give you the chance to explore this elegant, creative and absorbing dance for yourself, meet us and try out our approach. The cost for the session is only £8.00 and we are so confident that you will enjoy it that if you don't, we will happily refund the cost. </H2>

<H3 CLASS="MsoNormal"> Can anyone come to the classes? Yes. The classes are aimed at introducing complete beginners to tango and those with just a little experience who are starting their journey in the dance. Do I need to bring a partner? There is no need to book with a partner as everyone will be learning both the leading and following roles during the session. This helps build understanding and speed up our learning. I can’t make it for the taster session, can I still join the course? Yes, you can join the course in the first or second week as we will be focussing on the fundamentals of the movements in both weeks. The course is progressive so it wouldn’t be appropriate to join from week 3 on. What if I already have some experience, can I come and will the classes still be relevant? It depends on how much experience you have and if you are happy to start again from the beginning, but our approch is a bit different so feel free to come along and see if the full course might be right for you What should I bring into the event? For the classes wear loose comfortable clothing that you can move freely in. Also bring flat soled leather shoes or dance shoes if you have them. If you only have grippy rubber soled shoes, a pair of sports socks worn over the toes will help you to pivot and turn. It’s not pretty, but it does work! Also, a pair of large thick socks such as hiking socks would also be useful if you prefer to simply dance in those. High heels may not be appropriate this time as we will be dancing both roles, but you are welcome to bring them and try. I really want to take this further, will there be more sessions? Yes, absolutly! There is an introductory course starting in the next few weeks and there will be follow on courses after that.
