Printmaking Workshop

About this Event

Another chance to learn the art of linocut printmaking after our first very popular workshop in September. This will be held with local art tutor Jessica Rose taking inspiration from the Manor. Materials are included. Adults and accompanied young people aged 13+.

Printmaking at Pitzhanger Tutor: Jessica Rose

Course summary

Learn about one of the most accessible forms of printmaking, used by many famous artists including Degas and Picasso. Working with a highly experienced local printmaker, you will quickly be able to create bold, expressive images using linocut techniques.

We will take inspiration from the design and surroundings of Pitzhanger Manor and the rich creative legacy of its 19th Century owner and visionary architect, Sir John Soane. You will spend time drawing at the Manor and then bring to life its motifs in your printmaking, using this historic Ealing building as a resource to inspire a visual design.

This course is suitable for all skill levels, whether you’ve done lots of drawing and printmaking before or whether you’re a complete beginner - your tutor will guide you through the whole process and give you plenty of help and support.

About your tutor

Ealing-based artist and printmaker Jessica Rose will show you how to design and carve lino blocks and then print them. Jessica has exhibited her prints with the Society of Women Artists at London’s Mall Galleries, Chelsea Art Society and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Last year she was chosen from 1,600 applicants to compete in Sky TV’s competition Landscape Artist of the Year.
