Overview

3 week watercolour course to teach you how to draw and paint like Beatrix Potter

During this fun and interactive 3 week watercolour course we will learn to draw and paint like the beloved children's book author and artist Beatrix Potter, who found her inspiration in nature and her surroundings.

Potter had a keen eye for observation, and with using her imagination, she produced many stories and illustrations of rabbits, mice, pigs, ducks and frogs dressed in human clothing.

Her sketchbook was full of drawings of flowers, leaves, insects and animals. She did studies of trees, interiors, household places, buildings and landscapes.

Potter once wrote "Nature, with the exception of water and air, is made of colour."

We will attempt to complete a colourful watercolour piece inspired by the work of Beatrix Potter, starting with sketching on a watercolour paper and we will be exploring the watercolour painting techniques that she used in her paintings.

We will not be able to use the same materials that Beatrix Potter used because they are no longer produced. However we will use the materials that will resamble that ones she used during her lifetime.
